As companies sought to link their products to the advertising power of the new superliner, this ad cleverly reversed the pattern, using the ship to advertise to manufacturers. The State of Virginia, it argues, provided ideal conditions for the complex job of building the SS United States--so wouldn’t it be the perfect place to invest in a new factory?
